Hannukah at Twinsburg Parks & Recreation!

From Cleveland Jewish News:

About 150 people attended the city of Twinsburg’s “Light the Night” event to celebrate the seventh night of Chanukah Dec. 13 at the Twinsburg Community Center.

Rabbi Mendy Greenberg of Twinsburg Chabad led the menorah lighting, starting with a prayer for Israel and followed by a song sung by children attending the event.

“Chanukah is a story about a group of people who were fighting for their country, fighting for what’s moral, fighting for what’s right,” he said. “There’s no better time to remind ourselves that even if sometimes things seem a little dark, every person has a part and something they can do to add light and truth to what’s going on in the world.”

Prior to the menorah lighting, attendees enjoyed doughnuts, chips and latkes. The event also offered face painting, balloon creations and a craft session, where attendees colored Chanukah-themed pictures and made snow globes. Chanukah headbands, stamps and stickers were also available for attendees to take home.

The event was hosted by Twinsburg Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with Twinsburg Chabad.

A Forever Home Campaign

From Cleveland Jewish News:

Twinsburg Chabad recently announced the kickoff of its fundraising campaign, “A Forever Home” to raise $100,000 to secure a new property which is vital for accommodating the growing needs of the community, Rabbi Mendy Greenberg said in a news release.

Founded in 2017, Twinsburg Chabad provides Hebrew education, Shabbat services, adult classes and community celebrations for Jews in Twinsburg and surrounding areas.

“Our current facility, established just two years ago, quickly filled with an expanding Hebrew school, Shabbat services, adult education classes and community celebrations,” Greenberg said in the release.

A prime property has emerged on the market, perfectly situated for the community’s future growth and thanks to a generous local donor, the majority of expenses have been covered, but the final $100,000 is crucial to finalize the property acquisition, he said.

In the 36-hour campaign, running from noon on Nov. 26 to midnight on Nov. 27, every dollar contributed will be matched, effectively doubling the impact of each donation.

“The tragic events in Israel have only deepened the need for strong Jewish roots and a sense of belonging for Jews everywhere,” Greenberg said. “The need for a permanent Jewish center in our area has become more relevant than ever before.”
